Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection, or ICSI, is a specialized form of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) in which a single sperm is directly injected into a mature egg to achieve fertilization. Who Needs IVF With ICSI?
ICSI is recommended in the following situations:
Male Factor Infertility
ICSI is most commonly used when semen analysis reveals low sperm count (oligospermia), poor sperm motility (asthenospermia), or abnormal sperm morphology (teratospermia). In these cases, conventional fertilization in the laboratory may not be sufficient, and ICSI significantly improves the chance of successful fertilization.
Prior IVF Fertilization Failure
