Southwest Fertility Center supports reproductive rights of every person in America and around the world. As we received the notification in regards to the Supreme Court overturning Roe vs. Wade, as most REI (reproductive endocrinology & infertility) specialists, we receive our recommendations from ASRM and support this statement. “The words “Roe is overturned,” while expected, is nevertheless jarring. This decision removes an essential civil liberty that Americans have relied upon for nearly 50 years, one that is well-grounded in the history and best traditions of our country. Likewise, the ability of physicians to treat their patients using the latest and best, evidence-guided practices and techniques should not be curtailed by elected officials, or un-elected judges.”

A critical aspect of the specialty of OB GYN and patient care includes the medical knowledge, skills, and judgment relative to reproductive health rights, including access to contraception as well as to safe and legal pregnancy termination. Access to safe and legal pregnancy termination is essential to reproductive health, and it has been a legal right in the United States for the past 50 years after the Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade. ABOG’s mission is to define the standards, certify OB GYNs, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.
